Recognizing outstanding health risk management among Group Captive Programs and Members 

June 9, 2025 – Hamilton, New Jersey – Berkley Accident and Health, a Berkley company, is proud to recognize the recipients of its Risk Achievement of the Year (RAY) Award and Health Risk Management Certification for 2025. Recipients were announced at the 2025 Berkley Captive Symposium and were selected for their outstanding health risk management efforts during 2024.  

These awards are the highlight of the Berkley Captive Symposium, which is Berkley Accident and Health’s premier educational event. The Symposium brings together the organization’s entire Group Captive community to discuss innovative risk management strategies and share success stories in controlling health care costs for employers and their employees. Group Captive programs are designed to allow small and midsize employers to provide sustainable health benefits and come together to better control their overall health spend. Rather than buy traditional health insurance, these businesses self-fund their benefits with Stop Loss protection and join together to share risk in a Group Captive arrangement.  

Risk Achievement of the Year (RAY) Awards for Members  

Risk Achievement of the Year (RAY) Award winners are selected from across a variety of programs in Berkley Accident and Health’s portfolio and have shown exceptional dedication to health risk management in the previous year. This year, eight winners and eight honorable mentions were selected. While each company’s efforts are unique to their business and employees’ needs, examples include:  

• Promoting preventive care, including pre-natal care and cancer screenings 

• Launching on-site clinics or subsidized fitness initiatives 

• Enhancing mental health support and resources 

• Leveraging data to identify and target health risk factors among their employee population  

• Helping employees manage chronic diseases, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and pulmonary conditions  

Excellence in Health Risk Management Certification 

This year, 15 Group Captive programs earned their Excellence in Health Risk Management Certification. To become certified, Captive program sponsors must provide detailed information about their health risk management efforts, including member engagement and collaboration, results-oriented use of TPAs and point solutions, leveraging program size and scale to negotiate favorable solution pricing, coordination with Berkley Edge cost-containment services, and more. Programs that satisfy Berkley Accident and Health’s stringent criteria receive the Excellence in Health Risk Management Certification.
