Recognizing outstanding health risk management among Group Captive Program members

May 16, 2022 – Hamilton Square, New Jersey – Berkley Accident and Health, a Berkley Company, is proud to announce the winners of the Risk Achievement of the Year (RAY) Award. RAY Awards are given to Berkley Accident and Health’s clients who embrace employee health and wellness and who strive to offer affordable, high-quality health benefits to attract and retain their workers. This year’s winners were announced at the 2022 Berkley Captive Symposium and are based on their health risk efforts in 2021.

Winners are selected from the employer/members of Berkley’s Stop Loss Group Captive programs. Group Captive programs allow small and midsize firms to provide sustainable health benefits and come together to better control their overall health spend. Rather than buy traditional health insurance, these companies self-fund their benefits with Stop Loss protection and then join together to share risk in a Group Captive arrangement.

“Berkley Accident and Health is committed to helping its clients offer affordable and sustainable health benefits through smart risk management techniques,” said Brad N. Nieland, President and CEO, Berkley Accident and Health. “Because of their healthy focus on employee wellness and risk management, RAY Award winners have taken control of their health care spending – and the results are very impressive.”

RAY Award winners are selected from across a variety of programs in Berkley’s portfolio and have shown exceptional dedication to health risk management in the previous year. Winners must demonstrate a strong commitment to the well-being of employees and their families and implement programs that help lower health risk factors and show measurable results.

The 2022 First Place winners are:

Alexander Thompson Arnold (ATA) – ATA is a full-service accounting firm based in the southeast and was recently named by Accounting Today as a Firm to Watch and a Regional Leader. Fisher Printing – Fisher Printing, a national print and digital advertising company, has kept employee health contributions down using a data-driven approach to benefits, which they believe has improved employee retention during a competitive labor market. Through annual biometric screenings, the company understands the health challenges facing their employees and provides targeted programs to address them.

Schell Brothers – Schell Brothers is a residential new home builder headquartered in Delaware with divisions in Richmond, VA and Nashville, TN. Through the use of a data analytics tool available through their captive program, their in-house gyms, and health programs, the company has been able to identify solutions that helped lower employee out-of-pocket expenses.

Speed Global Services – Speed Global is a supply chain and global logistics company that has successfully tackled employee wellness on a number of fronts, with programs addressing high Rx copays, smoking cessation, weight loss, and more. This holistic approach has helped them gain more control over their health risk and pharmacy costs.

The 2022 Honorable Mention recipient is:

ConServe – ConServe is a top-performing nationwide accounts receivable management service provider. At ConServe, their employees are their most valuable asset.
