2021 Berkley Captive Symposium

Invitation-only event for Berkley captive members and brokers

Join us for the 11th annual Berkley Captive Symposium right from your screen. Our previously-announced Grand Cayman event has been transitioned to an online webinar series beginning in May. This risk management conference is designed exclusively for captive members and their business associates of Berkley Accident and Health.

This immersive virtual event series gathers the entire Berkley captive community — members, brokers, administrators, and program managers — for live webinars, opportunities to interact, and a few surprises along the way. Whether you are new to captives or highly experienced, you’re sure to gain new insights to apply to your business and empower you to take control.

To combat the virtual fatigue that many are feeling, we will offer a series of shorter, focused monthly webinars starting in May 2021. You’ll receive the same education, innovation, and collaboration as our in-person Symposium, but in smaller portions.

This is an invitation-only conference, so watch your email for more details.

What You’ll Learn at the 2021 Symposium

  • Innovative Risk Management Techniques
You’ll learn tactics to take your self-funded risk management to the next level. We’ll have multiple sessions focusing on cutting-edge topics, such as: gene therapy, value-based pricing plans, specialty drug sourcing, and more.
  • Informative General Sessions
You’ll also enjoy thought-provoking general sessions on topics that will benefit everyone such as The New Political Environment and its Impact on Self-Funded Employers and how COVID-19 has impacted employers and healthcare providers.
  • Cost-Containment Best Practices
Through case studies and success stories, you’ll hear how member companies are disrupting the status quo with proven cost-containment strategies.

Highlights from the 2020 Virtual Berkley Captive Symposium

Cutting-Edge Insights
In our first ever virtual Symposium, we added fresh educational topics to our Risk Sandbox sessions and a timely look at the 2020 election’s impact on health care. We also had popular sessions from previous years, such as our New Member Orientation.

Dr. Martin “Marty” Makary
We were pleased to welcome renowned speaker and Johns Hopkins surgeon Dr. Martin Makary, who discussed health care innovation in a lively panel discussion. Dr. Makary is the New York Times bestselling author of The Price We Pay.

In the past, attendees have told us that some of the most valuable times have been connecting with the Berkley captive community. Our virtual Symposium offered opportunities for live interaction, speaker Q&A, and informal chats to share best practices with each other.

Here’s What Past Attendees Have Said

” Joining a Berkley captive, but not going to the Symposium, is like buying a race car and not learning how to drive it. You won’t know how to control it or get great results. How crazy is that?”

Partner, Captive Member

“The Symposium is always a high point of the year, giving us ideas to improve our self-funded health care plan.”

HR Vice President, Captive Member

“The topics are timely and relevant and enable attendees to walk away with fresh ideas to improve their health plans.”

CFO, Captive Member
